As a family-run company, acting in a sustainable way is in our nature.
The fact that you can see our sustainability report as part of our added value chain on this website is already an expression of sustainable orientation, since it replaces the full report in printed form.
We continue to participate with deep conviction in the United Nations Global Compact, the biggest and most important initiative worldwide for responsible corporate management.
The United Nations initiative is not intended as a certifiable standard or a regulation tool, but as an open forum, in order to trigger change processes and share ideas.
It is on this basis that we want to work with you - our customers, employees, suppliers and partners.
Inspire us! Join us in working towards a clean, safe world!
As an association of family-run trading companies, we take our responsibility seriously, and act in a far-sighted, responsible way with regard to our customers, employees and society, while taking the needs of our environment into account - to the benefit of future generations.
Our mission and our value concept are documented in their full version in the igefa corporate policy.
As a member of the UN Global Compact by conviction, it is our mission to promote the ten principles relating to human rights, labour conditions, environmental protection and anti-corruption within the scope of our field of influence, and to actively implement them.
We will also continue to support Global Compact in the future, and are constantly working to promote the goals of the pact and to incorporate them in our everyday corporate process.
This standard applies throughout the entire supply chain - from the producer through to the end consumer.
In this way, sets of regulations are created which serve as a guide to employees, and to which suppliers must adhere.
Our management bears particular responsibility in this regard, by behaving in an exemplary way, guiding the employees for whom they are responsible, and acting as a point of contact if difficulties arise or if advice is needed.
The observance of these standards is also controlled by our integrated management system, which is certified according to the DIN EN ISO 9001standard for quality management and the ISO 14001standard for environmental management, and which includes occupational safety management according to OHSAS 18001.
Thanks to the reporting and notification requirements that are part of our management system, transparency and ongoing improvements are guaranteed.
Here, our basic principle of publishing only truthful information comes to bear, which we ensure by applying the dual control principle and defined approval mechanisms.
Our regular reporting is used to provide detailed information to our stakeholders.
It is designed to promote dialogue and orientation, both internally and externally. At the same time, it allows us to regularly check our own activities, and enables us to
incorporate stakeholder feedback, detect developments at an early stage and obtain a stimulus for new ideas.
The igefa Sustainability Council is the federal control body for sustainability activities in the company group.
