Cycling days: igefa employees bring in 3,100 euros for the WWF
The first igefa-wide cycling action days were a great success that whets the appetite for more. Employees from igefa's six corporate groups and five central companies cycled a total of 4,988.6 kilometers during the action period from May 30 to June 5, 2018. This result not only makes the Sustainability Council, which initiated the action, proud. The nature protection organization WWF can also be pleased about the active participation. The owner families had agreed in advance to donate up to one euro to the WWF for every kilometre driven. As a result, a donation of 3,107.35 euros has now accrued to protect the world' s "air conditioning system", the River Amazon.
"A big thank you to all the tireless cyclists who made this success possible," says Julia Del Pino, Chairwoman of the igefa Sustainability Council. "We are setting an example for environmental protection and also had a great team experience." Like Wolfgang Eichler, owner of the Eichler-Kammerer Group, and Thomas Wölflein, CEO of the Arndt Group, she has set a good example. The cyclists from the Kassel location, a W+U Group site, even had T-shirts printed especially for the action with the inscription "Fahrradtag - Für den Umweltschutz und für Ihre Gesundheit".
The igefa Cycling Days took place as part of the German Sustainability Action Days. All six corporate groups with a total of 30 locations throughout germany and the five central companies of igefa are participating in the action. The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), appointed by the government, has established the German Sustainability Action Days as an annual series of activities since 2012. The aim of the Action Days is to enhance visibility throughout Germany of real commitment that sets an example to others, to foster public awareness of the topic of sustainability and to inspire more people to undertake a commitment to sustainability. The Sustainability Action Days are thus addressed at private individuals, clubs, associations, initiatives, foundations, nursery schools, universities, churches, companies, social institutions, environmental and development associations, communities, municipal utilities, authorities, public offices and ministries. igefa will come up with something again next year and participate jointly in the German Sustainability Action Days.
