On your saddle, ready, go:
As a part of the German Sustainability Action Days from May 30 to June 5, 2018, igefa is calling on all employees to take part in the Cycling Days.
"We are happy about every colleague who leaves his car at home and instead takes his bicycle to work on one or more days during the campaign period," says Julia Del Pino, Chairwoman of the igefa Sustainability Council.
All six of the company groups with a total of 30 locations nationwide are participating in the campaign.
There are three good reasons to forego a car for once:
- Cycling is environmentally friendly - almost unnecessary to mention at this point that cycling of course does not emit any climate-damaging CO2.
- If you are on the road with your bike, you strengthen your health, because it burns calories, relieves the joints and prevents cardiovascular diseases.
- For every kilometer driven, the company groups donate up to one Euro to the nature protection organization WWF.
igefa-wide community involvement
Anna Eichler-Schenck, also Chairwoman of the Sustainability Council, points out another plus point: "The Bicycle Days are the first time that we have achieved a joint commitment throughout igefa that strengthens team spirit and the sense of togetherness within igefa.
Following the slogan "In die Radlerhose für die Spendendose" the council and the owner families hope for a strong participation.
Action Days Sustainability
The German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), appointed by the government, has established the German Sustainability Action Days as an annual series of activities since 2012. The aim of the Action Days is to enhance visibility throughout Germany of real commitment that sets an example to others, to foster public awareness of the topic of sustainability and to inspire more people to undertake a commitment to sustainability.
The Sustainability Action Days are thus addressed at private individuals, clubs, associations, initiatives, foundations, nursery schools, universities, churches, companies, social institutions, environmental and development associations, communities, municipal utilities, authorities, public offices and ministries. On the website https://www.tatenfuermorgen.de/ you can enter your own actions and get an overview of all actions.
